Make sure that in any type of bondage play that you and your partner have an open line of communication. Communication is a big thing when it comes to restraint play an even though you won't be partaking in heavy play, it is always safe to have a "SAFE" word for when you have had to much. A "SAFE" word is a word you both would choose but make sure it is a word that you don't use in the bedroom at all. As we all know when we get caught in that moment we tend to go into the "Don't STOP" mode. If you say "Don't STOP" as in you don't want it anymore an wish for your partner to stop they may think you would like them to keep going.
Design
The design is definitely one that isn't intimidating at all which is great. Most bondage gear can be intimidating, the Scandal Bondage Bar is very feminine which I like. The bar gives you 20 inches of space between the legs. You will also find spots for the wrists to be restrained as well. You can use the bondage bar while your partner is in the standing position if you wish to restrain both ankles and wrists. Scandal Bondage Bar can easily be use on your partner while they are laying on the bed if you are only wanting to restrain the ankles. I am sure if you are pretty flexible you could cuff both ankles and wrists while laying on the bed if you truly wanted to. While in standing position it mimics being hogtied just in standing form.
With the Scandal Bondage Bar there is little chance you would hurt your partner unless you make the restraints too tight as there is no type of metal or plastic within the bar. You will find the Scandal Bondage Bar adorned with a red and black floral design embroidered all over. Most bondage bars aren't like the Scandal it is lined with a velvety lining for comfort.
To restrain your partner you will want to undo the velcro by simply pulling it apart, then wrapping the "cuff" around the ankles or wrists. While the bondage bar is kept in place the velcro doesn't come undone super easy but it also wouldn't be hard to get out of in a pinch if you needed to. I love that there are more beginner bondage items coming to the market that you wouldn't find intimidating.
I love that the Scandal Bondage Bar simply folds up to where you can easily store it as it doesn't come with a storage pouch. You can easily slip the bondage bar into your underwear drawer or in your toy drawer with no issues.
Caring for your bondage bar will be simple, if you get any lube, oil or bodily fluids on it you can simply hand wash it or toss it in the washer inside a lingerie bag. If you notice the fuzzy side of your velcro starting to pull away and it isn't connecting like it is suppose to you can easily trim the fuzzy side back down. Be careful when trimming if the fuzzy side pulls away as you don't want to cut it to close.
Packaging
The Scandal Bondage Bar Packaging is in no way discreet at all as it has a restrained female bent over with a male pulling up on her underwear. The packaging is just your basic cardboard box that is actually pretty but will be finding its way to the recycling bin. The above photos also show plastic wraps around the cuffs when it was folded up, these have already been tossed as they serve no actual purpose. If you ask me the packaging for the bondage bar is a bit over the top as it doesn't need a really big box for something that is so small when folded up the way it arrives.
My Experience
This being my first bondage bar I can't say it is a horrible experience but there is still room to move as the bar is made of nothing but fabric. I would see it working better if you only use it while in standing position with both ankles and wrists restrained. Scandal Bondage Bar is a great starter bondage item for my partner and I as we haven't used any type of bondage products together.
If you are looking for what they call "vanilla kink" stuff then the Scandal Bondage Bar is something you would probably want to try. If you are looking for hardcore kink items you will want to steer clear of this particular bondage bar.
I am not sure that I can give a full blown raving review on this; as my partner and I don't really have standing sex and there is way too much room to move around. I will say that it is beautiful and very well made, the stitching is great and I love the velvety fuzzy lining to help with added comfort. Sadly this product won't get used by us much, we will have to seek out a better bondage bar. We are looking for something more along the lines of a spreader bar which the Scandal Bondage Bar could work in standing position but not while laying down.
Got to keep them legs wide open while attempting to climb the walls being on the receiving end of oral sex.
So all in all the Scandal Bondage Bar for me will probably only come in handy as a photo prop.
Thanks to CalExotics for sending out the Scandal Bondage Bar as a part of their Sexpert Program.
